Job description

As a Software Technician your role would primarily be one of software delivery support, with opportunities for the development and maintenance of internal tools as well as working on client facing projects. This role will offer you the opportunity to develop your skills within a consultancy environment. It’s exciting and challenging work alongside technical experts who have a passion for what they do, and you’ll be given real responsibility from day one.

You can be part of a team that will push the boundaries of what can be achieved in the world of technology. With a methodical approach you will assist teams in bringing their software under continuous integration and be involved in costing the software proposals. Your work will involve developing our internal tools, managing all external software releases and developing test plans for projects.

The role will grow with you as you develop further skills and become more involved in client project work.
 

About you:

Essential:

  • A high standard qualification in computer science, Software or Electronic Engineering or similar.
  • Demonstratable good understanding of Python or C.
  • Experience of software release management.
  • Practical experience of git version control.
  • Able to work as part of small teams on short and demanding projects.
  • Self-motivated and accustomed to getting on with tasks with a thirst for new technologies.
  • A tidy and methodical approach with a desire to encourage and produce high quality documented and traceable software deliverables.
Desirable:

  • Experience of an embedded RTOS.
  • Knowledge of Linux system integration/administration, Linux kernel drivers or Linux applications.
  • The ability to demonstrate a hobby or interest with a practical or technical relevance.
  • A desire to learn new languages and skills.
  • Experience of working in Linux as well as Windows environments.
  • Experience of other languages such as C#, C++, web or mobile apps.
