Further strengthening the medical technology expertise on offer to US customers

Palo Alto, USA 30th JUNE 2014 – Innovative technology and design consultancy Cambridge Design Partnership has today announced that it is continuing to expand its team in North America as part of its commitment to deliver world-class innovation to its growing portfolio of US clients.

This is the second milestone in recent months for the company, which in March unveiled its purpose built, multi-million dollar, 8,000 square foot R&D center near Cambridge, UK.

As part of the company’s growing presence in the US, Dr. Jez Clements, full partner and PhD mechanical engineer, has relocated from Cambridge UK to California, expanding the existing Palo Alto office.

Dr. Clements is an experienced mechanical engineer who has developed numerous medical devices, including the design and development of a hospital infection diagnostic system and a first-of-its-kind innovative lancing device. Dr. Clements will focus on working with medical technology companies to help engineer and design new products and related manufacturing processes, supporting them through to product launch. He will be working alongside respected medical technology expert Dr. Dominique Freeman, who has been leading the US team from Palo Alto since 2011.

“Since the opening of our Silicon Valley office in 2011, we’ve been able to help several exciting new clients. Having a partner from the business join our US office indicates our long term commitment to our American customers,” said Mike Cane, CDP founder.

The launch of the new UK R&D center was unveiled alongside the official launch of Cambridge Design Partnership’s new corporate identity. Facilities within the new R&D center include:

  • Four new purpose built laboratories complete with specialist electronics lab and optics labs, metrology facilities, environmental test systems and fume cupboards
  • A new user research suite with viewing facilities and full A/V recording equipment
  • A rapid prototyping suite with two 3D printers
  • Large workshop with three CNC milling machines, two lathes and support equipment
  • A foam and model-making room complete with a large spray booth

As a successful technology and product development consultancy, Cambridge Design Partnership is focused on transforming clients’ ideas into commercial success. Operating in the healthcare, consumer, energy and industrial sectors, the company believes innovation is fundamental to competitive advantage and business growth.
