CAPABILITIES
Sustainability + Manufacturing
Accelerating Sustainability through Manufacturing Innovation
In the dynamic consumer sector, we see companies focused on translating their sustainability goals into tangible R&D results. We help our clients navigate this journey, ensuring their products, packaging, processes, and production equipment are ready for the future.
Sustainable
packaging
manufacturing
challenges
Packaging in the consumer sector faces intense scrutiny and upcoming mandatory 2025 and 2030 legislation. One challenge is to identify the best material for each product that suits high-speed production, meets market demands, and requires minimal investment for swift implementation.
Addressing packaging complexity involves understanding diverse user needs, technical requirements, material options for different formats, manufacturing capabilities, and regional end-of-life scenarios. We address these challenges in close collaboration with clients and a network of suppliers to deliver results.
How we collaborate with clients
Science-based approach for
resolving challenges
Our approach blends consumer desirability, commercial viability, technical feasibility, and sustainability. Employing an agile, science-based methodology, we combine analytical and creative problem-solving with virtual simulation and hands-on engineering to refine our solutions through iterative test-and-learn cycles.
Accelerate progress towards
sustainability milestones
With extensive industry experience and a focus on technological advancements, we offer insights that drive progress and offer clients options, to avoid an over-reliance on current suppliers. This collaboration enhances our clients’ abilities to protect intellectual property, strengthens their negotiation power with scaling partners and accelerates progress towards milestones.
OUR CLIENT-CENTERED SERVICES
We deliver sustainability strategies, equipment adaptations, and process reinvention.
Sustainability Strategies
We develop actionable strategies and playbooks, including supplier audits, material scouting, comparative assessments, and selection. We consider regional infrastructure, regulations, and manufacturing capabilities in our approach.
Adapting Existing Equipment and Processes
We design and develop modifications for existing equipment using rapid prototyping, laboratory testing, and virtual simulation. This helps us pilot proof-of-principle modifications to minimize disruption and maximize efficiency.
Developing New Manufacturing Processes
Our capabilities extend to reinvention and developing new manufacturing processes, providing companies with breakthrough innovations towards circularity.
Adapting existing equipment is often the most practical approach. We combine our client’s know-how with our diverse expertise to develop a comprehensive plan from scratch, starting with first principles. We can either bring equipment in-house or work locally, depending on what best meets our clients’ needs.
Investing in new equipment can enhance efficiency, provide future flexibility, and enable the use of sustainable materials in a single step. We collaborate with various machinery providers and can help in navigating the numerous options to mitigate the risks associated with such large investments.
There are opportunities for reinvention, such as our work on Pulpex. These types of projects yield breakthrough innovations that challenge the current paradigms to offer sustainable alternatives.
